Comic Book Art
During the years I worked at STRIKA as a senior artist and colorist I have worked on over 300 separate comic issues, including the flagship soccer comic Supa Strikas (International), the cricket comic spinoff Supa Tigers (Pakistan and India), Strike Zone (South America) and a magnitude of corporate publications for local and international clients...

Since I was a child I had the ability to illustrate almost anything I could see or imagine. Being able to do this for a living took a lot of courage and perseverance, but it has all been worth it. I taught myself to work on Adobe Photoshop, now it's my pallet and my Wacom tablet my brush...

Supa Strikas is a fictional super league soccer team and the comic follows the rags to riches story of its main protagonist, Shakes. Supa Strikas has been published in over 20 countries with a worldwide circulation of over 1 million copies per month.

The success of the comic is mostly due to it being a free supplement in local newspapers, with corporate branding providing sponsorship. The exceptional production quality and relate-able story-lines also contributed to its wide appeal.

Supa Tigers follows the same formula as its soccer themed big brother, but this time it was adapted specifically for the Pakistani and Indian cricket fans.

Though Supa Strikas and Supa Tigers have similar origins and inspiration, they differ in art style and complexity. Though the printing processes and paper quality might have been lower in the Indian market, we never compromised on the production quality.

After the success of the soccer and cricket comics, STRIKA was commissioned to do a baseball comic for the American market, starting in South America. As with the previous comics, I was again the senior digital artist charged with designing and implementing the coloring method and style.

Unlike Supa Strikas/Tigers, Strike Zone was created with a headline sponsor already in place, meaning more creative freedom as we did not have to sell sponsor space on the comic like we had to with the others.

The majority of my work in the later years at STRIKA involved corporate commissioned comics/leaflets. These were mostly educational or infotainment, ranging from safety and protocol to instructions on how to recharge you mobile phone. They gave me the chance to work in many different illustration and coloring styles, from simple to almost photo realistic.

I have worked on publications for several different clients in over 25 countries and in a host of different languages...

Working on children's and animal's books are always a highlight for me...
